Injecting the Fountain of Youth, Local Doctor Test’s New Anti-Wrinkle Product.
CARLSBAD, CA November 13, 2006 - Local Plastic Surgeon is testing a brand new product that promises to smooth wrinkles and last longer. Juvederm, an injectible gel, is a new anti-aging treatment that promises to give you full lips and smoother skin.
Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Steve Laverson of Feel Beautiful Aesthetic Rx of Carlsbad is one of a few select doctors around the country participating in a pre-market study on Allergan's new filler, Juvederm and Juvederm Ultra. “One of our primary goals is to help patients achieve healthy, beautiful skin.” says Dr. Laverson. "It used to be the only way to restore youth was to either tighten or surgically lift the skin. Cosmetic fillers, like Juvederm, give consumers more options to regain a youthful appearance.”
“We have used the product on six patients so far” Laverson said, “and Juvederm can give smoother and more natural looking results than other fillers on the market." Dr. Laverson is one of the first cosmetic surgeons to begin using Juvederm on patients in the United States. Juvederm, from the makers of Botox, has been used in Europe for years.
“Juvederm is similar to Restylane, but some believe Juvederm may last longer than Restalyne because it has a higher concentration of Hylauronic Acid, a natural substance that is the active component. Dr. Laverson said, “It's found in nature, so it's used very safely and effectively. We don't even require skin testing for it, like the collagens of the past.”
Allergan spokeswoman Caroline Van Hove won't say how many doctors were chosen to participate in the study. Eligible patients must have previously tried Juvederm's chief competitor, Restylane, which has been sold in the United States since 2004. They will be asked to return to the doctor's office at three, six and nine months to evaluate results. Juvederm has been FDA approved and is scheduled to hit the market in January 2007. Juvederm will be comparable in price to Restylane, which is several hundred dollars per syringe. The U.S. market for facial fillers is about $175 million, and it grew by 25 percent this year, according to Allergan's research.
Dr Laverson offers a myriad of non-surgical and surgical treatments depending on the needs of each patient. The development of new techniques and innovative products in recent years has resulted in minimally invasive and safer procedures that offer longer lasting results, with minimal downtime, while a more diverse range of patients seek procedures.
Dr. Steve Laverson is a renowned Carlsbad, CA plastic surgeon, Board Certified by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
