Face Lift/Neck Lift (Rhytidectomy)
Face/Neck Lift (Rhytidectomy)
Face and neck lift restore a fresher more youthful look to the aging face. Facial aging involves both wrinkling of the skin surface and gravitational settling of stretched and degenerating deeper layers. To create a truly younger appearance, these deeper layers must be carefully restored to their original position and youthful contours re-established. By incorporating these and other advanced principles into your facelift, the results are more natural and longer lasting. We specifically avoid the pulled appearance. Recovery is several weeks, but final result develops over months as swelling slowly resolves.

Facelift and Face Surgery Questions
Am I ready for a face-lift?
Sagging and aging skin and facial tissue can give you an appearance of tiredness, sadness, or anger. A facelift procedure improves jowl and neck sagging, and can change your facial expression to be more youthful. If your aging involves the lower eyelids and sagging checks, a mid-face lift may be combined with conventional facelift, or performed in isolation. After healing from facial rejuvenation, you appear rested, healthy and more youthful. Our goal is for you to appear younger, not different.
How long will my facelift last?
Basically, a facelift turns back the clock. You will start aging again from that point forward. The good news is you will always look better than if you did not have the procedure in the first place.
What can be done for a “double chin”?
There are several options. If you still have good skin tone, the fat in this area can be removed with gentle liposuction, and this improves the contour of the neckline. When skin tone is poor, it may take a facelift procedure with liposuction to correct the condition. Neckplasty is a third option for patients with good skin elasticity.
What can be done for “frown lines” and “crow’s feet”?
Over time, prominent lines may be formed in the outer layers of skin. BOTOX® Cosmetic can be injected into these overactive muscles to cause temporary paralysis (3-4 months) and smooth these problem areas. Botox works best for dynamic wrinkles or those wrinkles that are caused by expression or muscle contraction.
Will I look natural after my surgery?
Dr. Laverson uses techniques that preserve a natural appearance. Our goal is for you to appear younger, not different.
Can laser resurfacing or chemical peels be done at the same time as a facelift?
Yes, but resurfacing can only be done on areas where the skin has not been freed from the underlying tissues (i.e. the area of the mouth). Resurfacing around the mouth is a nice addition to a facelift, because the wrinkles around the mouth are not improved by a facelift.
Am I too young for a facelift?
Everyone ages differently and this is very dependent on your unique features and how you feel about your aging. Many individuals have less aggressive surgery at a younger age to maintain a youthful appearance and prevent further aging.
Do you prefer endoscopic over traditional brow lifts?
Endoscopes reduce the size and number of incisions. This is important in brow lifts because it minimizes the risk of hair loss and other complications of traditional brow lifts.
When would you not do an endoscopic brow lift?
Patients who have a high hairline and long forehead are better served by a hairline brow lift so that the hairline can be lowered while also elevating the brows.
Do you do facelifts, brow lifts, and eyelid lifts all at the same time?
Yes. Doing all three at once creates better harmony between all areas of the face. Since all areas of the face age together, it may be preferable to treat all areas simultaneously.
